My Davy Crockett Dies!
Hello everyone, hope all is well. Just yesterday, Fess Parker, the actor who portrayed both Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone passed away. Of course both folk heroes were portrayed in the comics, drawn by Dan Spiegle, a friend of mine who just passed away last month.
Yes, paraphrasing his Boone theme song, "Fess Parker was a man, yes a reeeaal man..." But I will always remember Parker every time I hear the end of the Disney trilogy, "Davy, Davy Crockett, (and Fess Parker) died at the Alamo! Fess was 85.

Bronze Age Horror Artist Passes
Hello everyone, hope all is well. But in the world of comics, a giant has passed on, the co-creator of Swamp Thing, Bernie Wrightson, of brain tumors.
The cancer started some time back but the symptoms became debilitating last November. Bernie along with writer Len Wein created one of the great Muck Monsters of all time...Swamp Thing that was revitalized in the 80s by British writer, Alan Moore.
I met Bernie twice and he was always friendly, a kind man who will be missed.
