Breaking Bad with Badfinger

Hi everyone, hope all is well.  After last night's climactic and final episode of Breaking Bad, I was surprised to see the last few minutes of the great drama finish with no spoken words, only the music of Badfinger's "Baby Blue."

By this morning I was getting calls from all over the country asking me if I had seen the ending.  Actually, people from the Badfinger organization and Pete Ham estate (he was the writer of "Baby Blue") called me last night to tell me to watch the show since I have been friends of the group for a long time, as well as the editor of the Badfinger bio book, an aide/writer to the creative consultant on the VH1 Behind the Music special on the group as well as someone who helped put the Pete Ham solo CD together after his tragic passing.

I felt good knowing that someone I know, a very friendly and special person, was getting credit for something.  I know this blog has more to do with my Scene Magazine writing roots as a 15 and 16 year old way back and not so much with comics, but Breaking Bad has been considered one of the great moments in television and after all, man cannot live by comics alone.

AWWW who am I kidding, of course they can!  Take care and adopt a (Badfinger, yes, they were pictured in the comics) comic book today.

Signing and Sighting

Hi everyone, hope all is well.  I will be signing books and chatting with all of you within mere hours at the Wllby Hills library/community center.  All you've got to do is show up between 11:00 am and 3:00pm.  And check out flyers for my new conspiracy novel due out in 8 weeks.  "The Camelot Memo."  The cover alone will have you chomping at the bit to solve the mystery.

Take care and adopt a comic book today.

September Book Signing

Hi, hope all is well.  Well I'm writing to tell you about the newest book signing which will be held at the Willoughby Hills library on Rt. 6 (Chardon Rd) right off of Rt. 91 and across from the fire house.

The cool thing will be all of the well known authors appearing at the Author Expo.  Les Roberts, Dick Goddard, Michael Heaton, Neal Zircher and Dan Couhglin among others.  We'll all be there Saturday, September 21st, from 11:00am to 3:00 pm.

Besides selling and signing three of my recent books (My Batman, Globe Spanners and Galaxy Clan) I will be passing out color flyers from my new book which will be released in November, "The Camelot Memo," which has to do with the real people behind the Kennedy murder.  Of course it's a fiction novel

Also another great thing is that I'm advertised with the other stars and I don't get lumped under the "And More" monicker.  I must be getting luckier or writing better.

Take care, hope to see you in a few days and adopt a comic book today.

Kids and Dad and Dimes

Hi everyone, hope all is well.  I was thinking about all of the kids and kid groups in comics and realized that so many of them came from the mind of comics great, Jack Kirby.  There were Boy Commandoes, Newsboy Legion, Boy's Ranch, Witch Boy, Boy Explorers, Moonboy...well, you get the idea, a lot of slam bang action comics with kids as the main heroes.

But concerning kids in the comics, I must admit I don't have many more memories than those mentioned above.  But as a KID collecting comics, well that's a whole different matter.  You see, not a week went by that my Dad didn't take me to the local drugstore holding my hand, ready to place a few precious dimes into my free palm, creating even more precious memories way down the road into my childhood future that is now my present.

My Dad and I still talk about those happy times quite a bit and to this day, I still have all of the comics that he gave me or bought for me way back then.  So really, in effect I can say that as a kid, I wanted for nothing, not dimes, not affection, not comics and especially not...love.

Enhanced Covers

Hi everyone.  Hope all is well.  The other day a whole series of DC 3D comics came out and believe me, as a survivor of the 1990's enhanced, foil, fold-out, gatefold and hologram covers, I never thought I'd hear myself say out loud, "Boy these are great gimmick covers."  Well, maybe it's been so long that I've forgiven the stunt covers.

Take care and adopt a (3D cover) comic today.

Last Twilight Zone

Hi everyone, hope all is well.  I'd like to talk about the Twilight Zone experience I had a few weeks ago just one last time.  Meeting Rod Serling's daughter was a joy as well as meeting her husband Doug.  But I think my joy and the information I gathered for my interview is best served if everyone heads over to my web-site which is the site of the posted interview AND a piece of great artwork as readers can compare the comic book cover that I chose for our web-site cover to the original oil painting by George Wilson.

Again, thanks to Anne and Doug and check out E-Comics Gazette, the current 9-01-13-9-15-13 two week issue.

Take care and adopt a comic book today.
